Terms and Conditions of Entry
1. The tournament will be decided by 36 holes stroke play qualifying, from which the leading 16 scratch scores and
thereafter the leading 48 nett scores, in three handicap divisions, will contest knockout match play.
2. Ties in the qualifying competition will be decided by the best last 18 holes. If the competitors are still tied the winner will
be decided by the best last nine holes, then last six holes, last three holes and finally the last hole. If competitors are still
tied the result will be decided by lot.
3. In the matchplay rounds, matches finishing all square will continue from the 1st hole until one side wins a hole. In the
handicap sections shots will be allowed as in the prescribed round.
4. Prizes will be awarded as follows:-
Scratch Salver - Winner minimum £400 + bottle of single malt whisky or equivalent
Handicap Sections - Winner £350 + bottle of single malt whisky
Runners up and losing semi finalists will receive vouchers to a value no less than £100.
All losing quarter finalists will
receive a bottle of single malt whisky.
The player returning the lowest aggregate scratch score in the qualifying rounds will receive the W. J. Henderson Medal.
The player returning the lowest aggregate nett score in the qualifying round will receive the Peter Thomson Salver.
The Junior (under 18) returning the best aggregate scratch score in the qualifying rounds will receive the Paul Lawrie
Trophy.
Prizes will be awarded for the best scratch score in both qualifying rounds and leading nett aggregate outwith the main
prize winners.
5. The qualifying rounds will be held on Monday 31st July and Tuesday 1st August. The match play rounds will be held
on Wednesday 2nd August to Friday 4th August.
6. There will be a supplementary competition (The Five Day Open Plate) held Wednesday
2nd August to Friday 4th August
for entrants no longer competing in the main tournament or those eliminated in the first round of matchplay. The format
will be two 18 hole handicap stableford rounds. The leading two aggregate scores from each stableford rounds will
contest knockout match play on Friday 4th August. Qualifiers from day one will not be eligible to qualify on day two.
Players eliminated from the first round of matchplay competition in the main event on Wednesday
2nd August will not
be eligible to qualify on day one of the supplementary competition (in accordance with the rules of golf).
7. The organising committee reserve the right to curtail the scope of the competition in the case of bad weather, in which
case completion of the main competition will be given priority over the supplementary competition.
8. A limited number of free practice rounds will be available from 14.00 on Sunday
30th July. Please book in advance by
calling the ProShop or booking online.
9. Entry will be open to amateur male golfers with a handicap recognised by the authority controlling golf in the country
from which they enter (for the UK & Ireland this is CONGU). The maximum permitted playing handicap in the competition
will be 28.
10. Entry fee will be £140 (members £70). Juniors who hold a recognised handicap may pay half the entry fee but will only
be entitled to half the prize voucher. Under no circumstances will juniors be permitted to accept alcohol as part of their
prize. They will be given a suitable, equivalent value, alternative.
11. Entries will only be accepted on this entry form (or the equivalent on line form) accompanied by the relevant entry fee.

12. The Brora Five Day Open is the club’s premier event of the season We appreciate that some participants will wish to
play in the event as part of their summer holiday arrangements and your entry is accepted on the following
understanding.
(i) Players are expected to have a current understanding of the rules and etiquette pertaining to both matchplay
and strokeplay forms of the game.
(ii) Players must be members of a recognised golf club and be the current holder of a handicap recognised by their
local golf union.
(iii) The tee will be open from 06.30 until 16.30 each day and players may be required to play at unsociable times
in order to ensure that both the Competition and the Supplementary Competition can be completed. Tee
times might need to be amended at short notice in the event of unseasonal weather or other matters outwith
the control of the organising committee.
13. Players not on the Central Database of Handicaps (CDH) in Scotland, England,
Wales or Ireland will need to provide evidence of their current handicap index before starting their
qualifying rounds on Monday, 31st July.
14. The stroke allowance in the qualifying rounds of the main competition and the Five Day Open Plate will be 95% of each
player’s Course Handicap. The stroke allowance in the matchplay rounds will be 100% of each player’s Course Handicap
with the player with the lower Course Handicap conceding the difference in allowance to the player with the higher
Course Handicap. It is the responsibility of each player to calculate their Course Handicap for the matchplay rounds,
updated for the impact of their qualifying round scores on their Handicap Index. Evidence of handicap for the matchplay
rounds must be made available to the Competition Committee on request.
15. Players qualifying for the handicap sections of the matchplay events will be allocated to the handicap sections according
to their WHS Handicap Index as at 31st July 2023.
16. Players registering from the competition acknowledge that Brora Golf
Club may publicise their participation in the event on the club's website, the
press and social media.

Entries close Friday 14th July 2023 (unless this closing date is extended at the sole discretion of the Matches and
Handicaps Committee). Entries for the competition will be strictly limited to 183 players. A waiting list will operate when
the registered field is full. Entries will be accepted strictly in the order that registrations are received with the appropriate
entry fee and early entry is advised
